We recommend doing a cleanse every quarter at the change of each season to reset your body and reboot for the start of a new cycle. So, we lead the cleanse four times a year with the option to do one of two seasons depending on whether you reside in the Northern or Southern hemisphere. We provide four seasonal meal plans for Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. 

Eating in harmony with nature and in keeping with the seasons supports the body’s built-in health and cleansing processes. For example, foods harvested in the spring (asparagus and greens) promote detox after winter, while foods grown in the summer (berries, melon, and cucumber) help to cool the body and keep you hydrated. In the colder months, warming root vegetables help to strengthen and sustain your body. By eating local, seasonal produce, you support your body’s natural rhythms, as well as sourcing fresher, better-tasting food, and supporting your local farming communities.

This is a live-guided program where we all participate in the cleanse together during two full weeks (14 days) starting on a Friday morning and ending on a Thursday evening. However, you do need to prepare your body before Day 1 for the most enjoyable experience, and our first live call takes place on the Wednesday (two days) before we start. For the best results, we recommend taking 5 to 7 days before the cleanse to gradually wean off caffeine and alcohol. This is why registration closes on the Monday the week the cleanse starts to allow for that prep time.

Yes, weight loss is a common result of the cleanse. The average participant loses between 5 and 10 pounds, sometimes more. However, every person is different. Factors like diet, age, gender, body size, muscle mass, genes, hormones, environment, drugs, and physical activity influence metabolism.

How much weight you will lose on the 14-Day Cleanse will vary. And, if you don’t have extra weight to lose, your body will naturally recalibrate after you finish the 3- day juice fast portion of the program.

Bear in mind that some of the weight loss (about 2 to 4 pounds) may be water weight and colon matter that can return if you do not maintain better food and lifestyle habits.

We understand weight loss may be one of your goals. We encourage you to also focus on improving your overall health. Other benefits of the cleanse include: Decreased inflammation, deeper sleep, increased energy, improved digestion, clearer and softer skin, greater mental clarity, and better mood stability. 

Yes! During the first week of the cleanse, we encourage you to move as much as possible to support the detox process. If you have a regular exercise routine, you can maintain it. Just bear in mind that you will be eating differently, and may be taking in less protein than you are used to.

Then, as we move into the 3-day juice fast (deepest part of the cleanse) we recommend taking a break from running, cycling, resistance training, and other strenuous activity, and instead, engaging in more gentle movement such as walking, stretching, rebounding, and restorative yoga.

Detoxification uses a lot of energy, and your body goes through quite a number of changes, so resting and sleeping as much as possible during Days 8 to 12 is recommended to support the lymphatic system and aid better digestion and elimination.

We encourage you to treat the 14-Day Cleanse as a mini self-care retreat , and mindfully set aside time for rest, retreat, reflection and rejuvenation.

To get healthy and stay healthy, we need to eat good food, exercise, reduce stress, and sleep well. Unfortunately, life is busy, and we often don’t take care of ourselves with better food and lifestyle choices. Yes, our bodies are incredible machines that have built-in cleanse mechanisms. The liver, skin, digestive system, and kidneys are designed to flush out toxins on a daily basis to keep us alive and functioning.

But, we’re overwhelmed with more toxins than we can handle from environmental pollutants, processed foods, additives and chemicals, drugs, sedentary lifestyle, and trauma. In addition to this, we’re often eating foods like gluten, dairy, sugar, and animal proteins that are difficult to digest and so our body expends 50-70% of its daily energy quota on digesting food and doesn’t have as much energy for regeneration.

So, by taking two weeks to actively free our bodies from the onslaught of toxins, taking a break from poor quality foods, and nourishing ourselves with quality plant foods, we can flush out the built-up toxins that cause inflammation and disease.

By eating clean plant foods with some juice fasting we give our bodies a bit of R&R, a brief furlough from the non-stop labor, and our systems can devote a greater share of energy to detoxification, healing, and repair.

Then, our immune responses are stronger, our bodies run more efficiently, and we feel great! It is amazing how much better you can feel with just two weeks of strategic clean eating, and that is why we created the 14-Day Cleanse.

Cleansing (clean eating without juice fasting) is beneficial for everyone. However, while juice fasting is a safe and healthy practice for the majority of people, we do not recommend it for those with critical heart conditions, diabetes, or cancer (especially those actively undergoing oncology treatments).

Fasting is unsafe for pregnant or lactating women, too. And, juice fasting is not appropriate for children.

We are juice fasting for 3 out of 14 days of the program. You can participate in the cleanse and choose not to do the juice fast, and simply repeat any of the raw and cooked meals on the meal plan.

Digestion requires a lot of energy, so our bodies need a rest from it. We naturally fast (take a break from eating and drinking) every day when we sleep to give our major organs of elimination (liver, kidneys, colon, and skin) time for detoxification and regeneration.

The practice of daytime fasting in various forms has been practiced for centuries as a tool for better health. But, we find most forms of fasting to be extreme, dangerous, and not much fun.

After leading over 30,000 through our health programs, we’ve found that juice fasting and intermittent fasting strikes a nice middle ground for the majority of people, and 3 days of juice fasting hits the sweet spot for being a tolerable amount of time while still achieving amazing results.

Rather than depriving yourself of nutrients, juice fasting delivers essential vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates for energy, and promotes a gentle, but effective detox process. 

Our 14-Day Cleanse includes 11 days of cooked and raw meals and 3 days of strategic  juice fasting. The goal of our program is to teach you the safest and most effective way to practice juice fasting, and help you transition gently into and out of a juice fast for the most comfortable experience and to harvest the most benefits.

Yes, we recommend using a juicer to make the juices for the 3-day juice fast on Days 8-10 of the cleanse. We do not juice on the other 11 days of the cleanse. If you don’t have a juicer, ask to borrow one from a friend. You can use a blender to make the juice recipes, and then strain the whole blended juices to remove the majority of the fiber. Some participants do this.

However, our juice recipes have been calibrated for a juicer. So, flavor profiles will vary, particularly with recipes that contain assertive and pungent ingredients such as leafy greens and beets. If you do choose to use a blender, we recommend purchasing some additional apple, cucumber, ginger, and lemon to tweak the flavors of your juices.

It depends on the state of your health and how well you prepare the week prior to beginning the cleanse. We provide methodical instructions to ensure you have the most comfortable experience.

Each person’s cleanse is unique, and even an individual’s cleanses over time will vary due to many factors in overall physical and mental health—emotions, stress, and toxicity levels.

At any time during the cleanse, you may experience common detox symptoms such as headaches, body aches, or a huge variance in energy levels. Some participants feel strong and vibrant throughout the two weeks.

Detox symptoms (as unwelcome as they can be) are a sign that your natural cleanse mechanisms are working, and that your body is systematically healing. If you do experience detox symptoms, resting and hydrating normally provides quick relief, and most symptoms generally disappear within 12 to 48 hours.

Our 14-day meal plans include delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and drinks.

All of the recipes are:

  • grain-free

  • corn-free
  • nightshade-free
  • bean-free
  • nutrient-dense and easily digestible
  • alkaline-forming
  • anti-inflammatory
  • flavorful and fun

We estimate that your grocery bill for the two weeks will be $300 to $400 depending on what pantry items you already have on hand. All of the ingredients (mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and oils) can be found at mainstream grocery stores.

No. We know it gets expensive and you may have limited availability. While we do recommend using organic foods whenever possible to support detox, you can get great results using conventional produce. A prudent approach is to refer to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) website, and use their Dirty Dozen Plus™ and Clean 15™ list to determine where to put the emphasis when choosing organic produce.

Participants report spending up to two hours per day to prepare the meals. Yes, this is a commitment, and you may not be used to spending this much time in the kitchen. Some people are surprised by this on the first couple of days, but then enjoy the food so much that they begin to cherish the process of cooking, and look forward to preparing fresh meals in their daily life.

While high quality animal protein can support better health in some people, these foods are acid-forming and more difficult to digest. So, to maximize your results in two weeks, our meal plans do not include animal protein, eggs, or dairy.

The majority of our participants are omnivores looking to eat more vegetables and get inspiration and tools to incorporate more healthy habits into their lives.

Our recipe portions are intentionally generous and designed to satisfy the largest appetite so you don’t feel hungry or deprived. In fact, most people have leftovers that they share with family and friends.

The only time you may experience hunger or food cravings is during the 3-day juice fast on Days 8, 9, and 10. However, most participants are surprised that they don’t want additional sustenance even on those days.

To ensure you feel satiated on the juice fast days, we provide delicious broth and juice popsicle recipes to snack.
